chilled days
These days, I seem to have more free time then I've ever had since being in Tokyo. Having a simple and stress-free job has resulted in more time to do my own shit. Also, I've manage to turn my financial misfortunes into a positive. A reduced desire for alcohol has been good for the body and I seem to be thinking more clearly. Admittedly, I do regret not having seen some friends, so apologies to those that I've flaked on and haven't seen (or talked) to in a while. Sacrifices have to be made when you are dead broke. To past my time I've been going hard at the gym, playing tennis, drawing, and shitloads of reading. Am half way through re-reading all my design magazines as well as Haruki Murakami's Underground. This book is about interviews with people who were affected by the 1995 Tokyo subway Sarin attack. And, to be honest, I was hoping for a more interesting read. So far, I've been reading a repetition of testimonials on Sarin symptoms, the twelfth time in a row is no longer riveting. I'm only a third of way into the book so here is hoping that it gets better.

That's the amazing point of the book. It is in the repetition in the testimonials of the victims that one sees precisly what is wrong with the Japanese mindset. Then juxtapose that against the AUM members who almost seemlingly rebelled against this mindset and overall it paints a compelling, thought-provoking picture of Japan...lol or at least thats what i took from it.
